Tokyo Orientation

I'm finally in Japan. Yay! Tokyo is fly. It's like New York City except I can't read the neon billboards and watermelons cost $35. There are 1000 future English teachers here, 99% of whom are huge Animae/Dungeons and Dragons/Magic the Gathering nerds. Of course, that's great for me, because I've been meaning to level up my Elder Druid for quite some time now.

What I know as of now about my coming year is that I will be working at a high school in the city of Kanazawa, population 500,000, which is small for Japanese cities, in the Ishikawa-ken prefecture. I'll be living alone in walking distance to my school. I am an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT), so I'll be teach-teaching with a Japanese speaker, A.K.A. I won't be completely useless.

Upon my arival on Wednesday, I will be participating in the Japanes gift-giving tradition in called O-miyage where you give a gift when you meet someone, and they give you a gift back of equal or greater value. I have devised a plot to give gifts to as many people as possible, they give me better gifts. Pyramid scheme anyone?

Finally, you should download Skype so we can talk for free online.

moshi moshi, i think , is how you answer the phone. Rest assured I will be checking up on yo' blog regularly. So be better at keeping up with it than I am at mine.

You're a pretty awesome dude, and I'm really excited for you to be doing this little adventure. You're kind of an idol of mine. And hella sexy.
